What it’s like here

We do right things.

It sounds simple. In practice it shapes how we hire, how we onboard, how we run meetings, and how we make the calls that matter when a family is in crisis. Five culture pillars — Team, Culture, Promise, Integrity, Values — written down, hired against, reviewed against.

No. 01

Real culture.

“We do right things.” That’s the line, and it’s a real one. We hire against it, we make hard calls against it, and we lose people who don’t live it. The hospice business is full of providers who optimize for revenue at the expense of care. Our counter-culture is to do the right thing for patients, families, referrers, and employees — even when no one is watching.

No. 02

Real development.

DiSC assessments. Leadership workshops. A defined path for clinical and operational growth. We invest in our people because the team that does this work is the one that stays — and we’d rather grow our future leaders from inside than recruit them after the fact. Many of our managers started at the bedside — as clinicians and coordinators.

No. 03

Real autonomy.

A clinician’s judgment is treated like a clinician’s judgment. We back our staff in the moment, not after the fact. If you’re tired of being micromanaged by an algorithm, or by a manager who hasn’t seen a patient in five years — this is the place. Physicians and NPs are on staff, not just consulting from outside, so you have real clinical backup when you need it.

No. 04

Real respect for the work.

This work is hard. It’s also some of the most important work in medicine. Pathways treats clinicians like adults, listens to nurses on assignment, and gives social workers and chaplains room to do the work that doesn’t show up on the EMR. Above all else — time. Yours, theirs, and the patient’s.

A teaching organization

The best care teaches. So do we.

We host clinical rotations for nursing, physical-therapy, and occupational-therapy students — and precept the next generation of clinicians as they see how modern home-based care is actually done. A lot of them start here as students, and stay.
